To describe Gerardo Contino's vocal prowess, one must use the following adjective: class. He commands attention with his smooth voice, but also with his grace and demonstartive gesturing as he pours his heart and soul into a tune. This evening's performance of the music of Cuban legend Benny Moré was no exception. From the very start, the club felt like a party... and oddly enough, it was! Contino was celebrating his birthday and the added excitement of the night did not go under utilized. Led by pianist Dayramir Gonzalez, the band's playing was vibrant and fun creating a carnival-like energy. It was a real treat to be a part of. The crowd on hand was ready to move and through the course of the set, many bursts of spontaneous interpretive dance occurred.
