ANDREA BRACHFELD 01.24.19
PERSONNEL
Year two of the Dangerous Rhythms series started with an absoluite bang with the lean and mean sounds of flutist Andrea Brachfeld and her merry men: drummer Robby Ameen, bassist Lincoln Goines and pianist Bill O'Connell. Unique to this installment, all of the players on hand had actually recorded extensively with the subject of the evening's festivities: the late composer/musician Dave Valentin. The level of skill on display this evening was truly remarkable, and each member brought the work to absolute life. Robby Ameen's frentic drumwork (he actually knocked a cymbal off its stand in one tune!) was a marvel to witness, and Brachfield's resonance and tone were phenomenal, despite her claiming to be under the weather: TJ's line "Perhaps you should play sick more often." speaks volumes. The show was simply brilliant.
