David Virelles' music is extremely difficult to classify by virtue of its myriad of influence. It's a true amalgamation of very traditional Cuban rhythm, but infuses a strong element of free jazz and neo-classical sensibility. The unusual lineup for this particular performance featured David on piano and 3 percussionists that played a wide range of instruments. The lead vocals were primarily led by Dîaz and Alonso del Valle with Ms. Santa offering backup duty, and each brought their own extremely emotive and impassioned voices forth. The show was a true sight to behold, and was a remarkable departure from the standard jazz setup. Frenetic and high-spirited, the audience was truly in awe.

When the spirit moves you...
The trio of percussionists made for an incredibly unique experience. The spontaneity and depth of the groove was bold and brazen in increments.
